16-20 ouncestater tots (or Ore Ida crispy crowns), approx. ½ of a 32-oz package
4ouncescheddar cheese, shredded
4ouncesMonterey jack cheese, shredded
2scallions, chopped, for garnish
pickles, for garnish
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In a large cast iron skillet over medium heat, add a drizzle of oil and add ground beef and diced onion. Saute until beef is no longer pink, crumbling the meat as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
Stir in ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and pepper. Arrange tater tots (I used Ore Ida Crispy Crowns) over the top covering the surface. Bake for 20-25 minutes until tater tots are brown and crisp. Top with shredded cheese and return to the oven for 5 more minutes. Garnish with chopped scallions and pickles, if desired.
